Ovens are amazing appliances that make it easy to cook delicious food! And don’t we all feel like the experience of cooking with an oven is even more satisfying and the food tastes even better when the oven is sparkling clean?  There is no joy in cooking meals in a dirty oven, especially if it leaves your food tasting “off.” If your previous tenants were not the cleanest and never cleaned their oven,  it is up to you as a landlord to make even the dirtiest oven “shine bright like a diamond” again. You can always hire a professional cleaner, but it can be costly.

From pressing a button to making your own grease-melting concoctions, here's everything you need to know about cleaning an oven.

How to Clean the Inside of an Oven?

There are four ways to get a crystal-clean oven:

  1. Classic or traditional method - cleaning the oven by hand with cleanser and detergents. This method is one of the hardest and time-consuming.
  2. Pyrolytic - the oven heats up, and all the pollution turns to ash. The only thing to do after that procedure is to use a wipe.
  3. Сatalytic - the oven wall coating comprises a catalyst, which, when heated, decomposes the fats on the enamel of the coat. The oven will heat up to extremely high temperatures, so you need to take some safety precautions.
  4. The hydrolysis method is one of the most effective ways of cleaning with water vapor. All you need to do is to place a bowl with water and heat the oven to 194°F. It will soften the contamination.

How to Clean Oven Door Glass?

Glass is more vulnerable to scratches than racks, so the oven's glass door demands a softer touch. Abrasive products and aggressive scrubbing are absolute contraindications. We recommend using a microfiber cloth with baking soda for best results. For the baking soda cleanser, mix soda with water to make a thick paste, spread it all over the door, wait for half an hour, and then wipe it dry.

How to Clean a Self-cleaning Oven?

The easiest way to clean an oven is to use the oven self-cleaning function. Just press the button if your oven supports the self-cleaning function. Be cautious, however, as it is not recommended to use the self-cleaning option for ovens that are older than eight years. Also, block off access to the oven for children and pets while using the self-cleaning feature.

How to Clean an Oven Without an Oven Cleaner?

You can find specific cleaner solutions almost everywhere. What should you do if you don’t have access to a cleanser specifically made for ovens? Baking soda mixed with water and lemon juice is one of the best solutions to clean the oven. Out of lemons? Try to use vinegar instead! This method is effective but may not work on extremely dirty ovens. But don’t underestimate the power of DIY oven cleaners - they can often do the trick in a pinch!
